Mystery Shopping a new service technique that will open your eyes
For those who do not know what mystery shopping is, well it is a technique that many companies in different countries around the world use to measure or assess the service provided to customers.  They focus on the different dimensions of service.  Panama is not the exception, now many companies like world-wide renown Hotel brands, restaurants, Banks and even private schools are opting to implement this service measuring technique to better serve their customers, see in what their employees are failing, in what stage of training they have to be reinforced.
Why Panamanian companies are doing this?, since Panama has become a center of business and tourist attraction, in 2012 Panama was in first place among the best tourist destinations followed by Costa Rica in second place.  Since we have received this honorable place thanks to happy customers, Panama wants to exceed and go beyond.
The goal of many companies is to offer a 100% of satisfaction to guests, because 99% is not acceptable.  This technique focuses on the 5 dimensions of service that all companies need to consider if they truly want to deliver exceptional service experience to both internal and external customers.  The mystery shopping trend looks to see how well the service provider greets you, if they call you by your name, ask you to have a sit while assisting you in any process, offer you something to drink to make the waiting time less tedious, if they know their products, how fast they give services, but not only fast but efficient and trustworthy, if the place is clean, if the temperature of the place is comfortable, if they have sits available and many other criteria.
According to the Service Quality Manager in CA bank of Panama, they do this to measure a program that has been just implemented in the company; they just want to know how efficiently this goes and how many are happy with it. He also said that he was shocked when he saw the outcomes of the Technique, not saying that they were  giving a bad service but a service that did not match with the high standards of the bank.

So you better be ready for you never know when you will be measured...

Marriott Courtyard conquers every heart
Once again Marriott has impressed me with excellence and exceeding customer care service. Today I had the pleasure to visit Marriott Courtyard Panama, located Via Israel Avenue, by the Multi-plaza Pacific Mall. I was mesmerized by the décor, the background music that made the perfect blend with the ambience and joviality of the occasion.  Uniformed ladies with a polite and friendly tone of voice welcomed me to a nice meeting with the recruiting staff.  She led me to the living room, where the comfort, delicacy, friendliness were not absent from the overall perspective.  Once I was waiting for, I could not help myself from noticing the wonderful view of the humongous Mall just at meters away from Marriott Courtyard.  It was evident to me that the hotel strategic location showed me once again the passion, vision, mission and customer oriented moves that Marriott as a world brand and a good chest player has made for itself and its followers. As a lady came to me nicely dress with a tray and on it a tasteful complementary drink to cool me off. She put it on the table greeting me in nice manners and a friendly, welcoming grin was her seal of presentation.
The hotel holds a prestigious image among the competition, when I was there I could see people from different parts of the world, from different niches, but with something clear in their minds and it was that Marriott is where they all belong.  Marriott culture towards its internal customers is vital and always there to guarantee the company’s success and promote the impeccable image of good treatment and common welfare, that for years has stood out from the rest.  From the conversation we held I could catch that is not difficult to get to talk with the higher-ups since the organization structure has been built in such a way that communication between different departments is a fact and a responsibility from all its workers.  Marriott Courtyard Panama is open to the new tendencies and global changes but air-tight in regards to how marketing strategies are made in order to milk more guests from the competition.
According to the recruiter, Marriott Courtyard’s mission is to satisfy customers in both ways (internally and externally) and excel Marriott Courtyard’s own objectives and goals to set trends and not to follow them.   The marketing model is a societal oriented marketing since they view society’s needs as their own and find ways to deliver service having present those less fortunate.  Business people and commuters love Marriott for they feel they are at home away from home, Marriott Courtyard more than a hotel is a place for relaxation, nice talks with peers, a perfect place to close a business, a gorgeous place to tell your girlfriend to marry you and celebrate, a place to stay connected through the use of state of the art technology or why not to just say bye to routine and embrace elegance, quietness, peace of mind under a roof that welcomes good feelings and luck.
Marriott Courtyard Panama is categorized as one of the best places to stay in the Republic of Panama for the spirit of excellence, customer oriented staff, nice décor and layout and simplicity to amaze with the unexpected.  Have a glance on Marriott Courtyard Panama, make connections, close that important business and feel yourself like walking on a runway while entering through Marriott Courtyard Doors.

San Sebastian Fair

San Sebastian Fair, more than a fair a festivity where both Culture and Tradition meet

Once again Ocú is the mecca of a great cultural and economic Celebration. Ocú a small district located in the province of Herrera at four hours from the Capital City of the country. If you are in Panama you can take a bus with the routes Ocú-Panama or las Minas-Panama. The bus fare is of only 9 US dollars-- quite affordable or in Veraguas you can take the buses with the routes Ocú-Santiago or Las Minas Santiago. For these routes you will only have to pay 2 US dollar.
The event kicks off on January 16th and ends on January 22nd. This important fair is in honor to the Saint Patron San Sebastian. On the night of the 16th , the Ocuenos (people from Ocú) do a big mass to bless the event and thank their Patron Saint for all the blessings he has given to them.  In this mass important Government personalities attend, who among them, is the President of The Republic of Panama, Mr. Ricardo Martinelli who is also responsible for the cutting of the inaugural band. Once this is done a wonderful display of fireworks say that all is ready for the commencement of the Ocú International Fair.

A Queen crowned with Gold

Every event has to have a queen; this year’s Queen was Miss Danixa Batista Arroyo, a beautiful lady that, without a single fog of doubt was a good representative for this important event.  the jewels she wears are  of pure gold and delicately hand made for Ocuenos Artisans.    her dress is also quite expensive for the designs on it are sewed by hand for women from San Jose, a nearby place where most of the women dedicate their lives to enliven creations like this, so that they can be displayed to the world. the Queen proudly said that she was really honored to wear a dress like this, but she highlighted the fact that without the joint cooperation of all the Town inhabitants, family members that were her support in this hard task and visitors. the fair would not be the hit it was.

This agricultural, industrial and cultural fair seeks to highlight the core cultural values of its inhabitants. For instance the way they used to trade, dance and dress. The fair also invites the youngsters to keep the cultural traditions and to go on dreaming as those in the past did to keep alive what we are contemplating with such admiration, passion, love and superb care.

Produce of the Land, also brought to the World.
Ocuenos are really hard working people. most of them live from the agriculture and from the livestock. produce like yucca, watermelons, melons, tomatoes, green pepper, coil, and so many others are sold in the town at quite low prices, for the producers sells themselves what they get from their orchards. the produce prices go expensive when they are sold by intermediaries.
In this picture you see both winter and summer squash. people use also the pattypan squash especially in soups and the rest of this kind are used in sweets. as you see the produce is quite varied, so you have options from where to choose if you make your mind to visit Ocu.

if you are tired of the same and want to buy good produce, with good taste, variety and at low prices, then you will have to give yourself a tour to Ocu.
so come see for yourself and get delighted.

International Food for the most demanding of the Palates

the sweets can't be missed in this fair. if you want to taste delicious heavenly sweets brought to you from Cocle, then you have to come to Ocu for San Sebastian Fair. from grated coconut candies to jelly stuffed bums in different fruits flavors, well the list goes on and on. hungry right?  just drop by and you won't regret it

food is showcased everywhere in the fair. here you can find food from Peru, Italy, Costa Rica, and from different zones or provinces of the country. all the vendors have to abide by the Health Department requirements before putting up the Kiosk. In this kiosk right here I enjoyed a pineapple milk shake with Corn flakes. an interesting combination. the creativity is all around. the only thing you need is to come and enjoy.

people from all over the Globe come to buy interesting items from the Town. though the price is quite high. tourist do not hesitate to pay for one of these jewels of Culture and Traditions. here are some pictures of the most sought-after items that tourist search when visiting the San Sebastian Fair.

on the left you see the famous Gutarras or hand-made leather shoes. they come in many designs and on awesome presentations, colors. they can also be customized. if you want you name on it. it is possible too. Tourist prefer the ones that are as rustic as possible.

The white Ocueno Hat is very famous for the great quality if the materials and the sewing used. the price of the hat is set by the manner this is sewed, the tighter the sewing, the more expensive. you can find it at the Inn in Ocu. where some woman from San Jose has a small shop where you can get them.

the scarf is another item very bought by Tourist. its fine designs with the shape of diamonds, stars and so are the main appeal of them.  you can contact the lady who makes them on her Facebook page that I will be posting at the end.

these wonderful masterpieces of Culture are made by Mrs. Guillermina, a kind lady of Ocu. when I was talking to her about this wonderful pieces, I could see in her eyes the passion and enthusiasm when she politely explained us the use that the wearer should give to pieces, when to wear it and also the care that we have to have if getting one, for they are quite delicate.  she also said that the designs must also go with the wants and desires of the person. she stated that throughout the pass of the years she had to evolve in the way she made the dresses---- a young lady would like  to be in while a forty year old woman would like something more formal. what she doesn't change is the designs and  the colors

the Las Tulas or Crookneck squash.  the process to turn a crookneck squash into a masterpiece like this is quite tedious. in the past they were used  as water containers, they are still used as water containers but in only isolated areas of the country.  The Tulas kept the water cool and fresh. useful tool to keep the water if workers were working in the sun. most of the are not just appreciated as souvenirs by locals and new comers.
some people dancing at the Ranch

What they are saying about Panama as a Tourist Destination.

Presses you should have a glance on when looking for the right place to stay, share, connect, relax and enjoy.

What they are saying about Panama as a Tourist Destination.
USA Today in its article of April 2010 describes Panama as “deliciously free of Crowds.”   What else would you like Panama to be described? Panama offers you an extensive array of unlimited possibilities of outdoorsy activities.  Doesn’t the phrase “deliciously free of crowd” tell you that Panama boasts the best places for relaxation, time with yourself or with your family in perfect ambiences that carry balance and peace of mind? Well Panama has that and much more and the possibilities are quite affordable.
Another article from Forbes of July 2009 says “Exotic Panama, that sunny nation in Central America, has almost everything” the range of things do not end, but they go on. Here the best got better.  With a favorable weather that welcomes the sun all year, with first world amenities, bird-filled rainforest and a dollar economy and with the Panama Canal as the fuel that fires its strong economy. Panama has become the safest country for investment.
Panama “Naturally-part wild, Part urban and chock-full of life”, this was said by Boston Globe on October 2005.   Panama has nine provinces which has a lot to give. From coffee fincas, banana plantations, cultural heritage, colorful landscapes to mountainous highlands and coral reefs, Panama unlike Costa Rica has not yet become a price-inflated eco-circus with billboards targeting tourists.
Panama has one of the richest ecosystems on the planet.  It’s the mecca for tropical research. All the theories of tropical evolution originated here. This means for tourists more sharks, more whales, more plants, more birds and more coral reefs. This was published by New York Times, November 2005.
In Panama, American retirees finding more paradise for less, “Boquete gave us the opportunity to have a great comfortable life style”, said Sutton, 50. Other retirees as well are making similar moves to Panama--- Attracted by the low taxes, the relatively low cost of living, the lush surroundings and eternal mild climate Los Angeles Times, February, 2005.
With a country that welcomes everyone with sunny days, the best places to do research on any field of Biology, with a solid economy, with nice lifestyle for retirees, with affordable opportunities to share, connect, relax and enjoy. Panama should be your next choice when deciding where to go for vacations, to study, live, invest, or spend some time on your own.
Choose Panama and you won’t regret it.
