Las Minas is a small District in the Herrera Province at only 30 minutes from the Ocu District. the place is the mecca of a great diversity of flora and fauna. the temperature is very welcoming since it is always cool and in the afternoon you can enjoy the freshness of the air and the elegance of the sun hitting the west. its population is mainly formed by farmers. the landscape is very attractive if you are a nature-fan, and pleasant and quiet that you can even listen insects noises at night.
it is also known as the small chiriqui of the Herrera Province for its diversity in terms of natural richness. the place boasts to have one of the most beautiful orchids in the country. it is so unique that the dwellers have separated in the calendar a week to celebrate their uniqueness and the honor to boast this honor.
Las Flor de Espiritu Santo Orchid Fair seeks to highlight the traditions of the town.
I asked a bit about why the name of the Orchid, according to what the dwellers told me is due for the magnificent shape of the Orchid, the flower clearly resembles a white spotted dove in its nest, elegantly boasting its fan of feathers and wings backward. the colors are so exquisite and captivating to the eyes that you just want to see it over and over again.
Besides this Orchid, the town has a lot of other vivid and sort-of unique ones for the pickiest of the eyes. more ahead I will show you a range of all the verities that I could catch with my camera.
the adjective that I can use to describe them is "amazing". most of the have been awarded first places for its uniqueness, shape and vivid colors in the National Orchid Contest.
in this weeks, the inhabitants of the town not only put in display what they have to show off in terms of Orchid breeding, but also in its outstanding culinary diversity, cultural wealth, people warmth and educational behavior.
I have the chance to eat dishes that I have never eaten in any other place of the Herrera province, so come and join me the next year to celebrate diversity and taste for yourself what this District has for you. this wonderful fair is celebrated on September
